Legendary Tech is run by Zachary Staines (Amaris Studio) in Australia. We are a small independent site, so this policy is written plainly: exactly what we collect, why, and what you can do about it. Questions or requests: team@zacharystaines.com.
What we collect
Account. When you sign up with a magic link or Google we store your name, email address, avatar, and the username you choose. Google sign-in sends us only your name, email, and avatar.
Content you create. Notes, guides, photos, collections, device ratings, and suggested corrections. These are public by design: they appear on device pages, the collections feed, and your profile.
Skool linkage (optional). If you link your Skool community membership for a badge, we store the email tied to your Skool account and your membership tier, and nothing else from Skool.
Analytics. We use PostHog to understand how the site is used: pages viewed, features clicked, device and browser info. Signed-in activity is linked to your account so we can see what members actually use. Collection view counts are deduplicated with a one-way hash of your IP address that changes daily, so we never store the address itself and cannot recognise you tomorrow.
Email. Our email provider records delivery and open data, and we store your notification preferences.
Why we collect it
To run the service (accounts, your gear, your collections), to improve it (analytics and feedback), to send you account email and, if you have not opted out, occasional updates about the site, and to verify community badges you ask us to display.
We never sell personal information and we never share it for advertising.
Cookies
We set an essential session cookie when you sign in (Better Auth), which is required for the site to work. PostHog analytics stores an identifier in your browser to tell visits apart. There are no advertising cookies and no third-party ad trackers.
Who processes data for us
Neon (database hosting, United States), Vercel (site hosting), PostHog (analytics), our email delivery provider, and Google (sign-in only). Each processes data only to provide their service to us. Data is stored in the United States by providers operating under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or standard contractual clauses.
Public content
Anything you post, including your username and ratings, is public and may be indexed by search engines. Use a username you are comfortable with.
Retention and deletion
We keep your data while your account is active. If you delete your account or ask us to, we remove your account record, profile, email preferences, and Skool linkage. Backups clear within 30 days. Your individual ratings are removed but survive inside anonymous aggregates (a device's average score and count). Spec corrections you contributed stay in the shared device database without attribution, because the database has to stay accurate.
Your rights
You can ask for access, correction, deletion, or an export of your data at team@zacharystaines.com and we will respond within 30 days. We verify requests through your signed-in session or a link to your account email, never copies of ID. If you are unhappy with how we handle it, you can complain to the OAIC (Australia), your local EU data protection authority, or the UK ICO.
Children
Legendary Tech is a general-audience device database, not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13; if that has happened, contact us and we will remove it.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will say so on the changelog and update the date above.
