New 1450 mAh replacement cell · Rear cover, now rubberized rather than the Desire's plastic back, still pops off for battery access.

EASYother
Unlockable bootloader on most variants, active custom-ROM community · A single-piece hollowed-out metal unibody replaced the original Desire's exo-skeleton-plus-plastic-cover build, with touch-sensitive capacitive buttons instead of physical keys. Beyond the redesign, HTC also bumped RAM from 576 MB to 768 MB, storage from 512 MB to 1.1 GB, and shipped Android 2.3 out of the box rather than 2.1, so it was more than a cosmetic refresh of the original Desire.
