Enable developer mode and install Preware on the Palm Pre
So, you want to use your Palm Pre/Pixi, but you don't have the essentials. In this guide, you will learn how to enable developer mode so you can make it usable again in 2026, and make apps for it. It's as easy as entering the Konami Code. Let's get started!
Step 1: Enter the "Just Type" menu and enter the Konami Code (upupdowndownleftrightleftrightbastart) with no spaces.
Step 2: Select the developer mode application that appears in search, and turn developer mode on.
Step 3: Make sure you have Java 8 JRE installed. (if you don't, then get it from java.com!) Next, Install the novacom driver from webOS Archive, and install webOS Quick Install. Now, plug your Pre/Pixi into your PC with a good quality micro USB cable (preferably an OEM cable), and use webOS Quick Install to sideload Preware onto your Pre/Pixi, and if it succeeds, then congrats! You have just jailbroken your device!
If this guide helped you, then go check out webOS Archive for more info on legacy webOS. Preware is a software package installer that lets you install applications from the internet onto the Palm Pre/Pixi.
